Celebrating Dashain: A Time of Joy and Togetherness

Dashain is a special festival in Nepal, and it's one of the happiest times of the year. For fifteen days, families come together to celebrate and enjoy each other's company.

At the start of Dashain, we clean our homes and make everything fresh. This is a time to get ready for new beginnings. We decorate with bright flowers and colorful items to make our homes look beautiful.

One of my favorite parts of Dashain is flying kites. The sky fills with kites of all shapes and colors. Children and adults alike look up and smile as they watch them dance in the wind. It's a simple joy that brings everyone together.

We also prepare tasty foods during this festival. Special dishes like meat curries, rice, and sweet treats are made with love. Sharing these meals with family makes them even more delicious.

Visiting elders is an important tradition. We go to see our grandparents and other older relatives. They give us blessings and place a red mark called "tika" on our foreheads. This shows their love and hopes for our good health and happiness.

Dashain is not just a festival; it's a feeling of warmth and unity. It reminds us of the importance of family, gratitude, and joy. Every year, I look forward to Dashain because it fills my heart with happiness and creates memories that last a lifetime.
